Welcome to the New Member Guide! Have fun reading. Oh, and yes. I am asking and answering these questions. Woohoo!

I just joined... help!
After you sign up, activate your account and log in, you have to read the rules. Then, since you're already reading this I don't have to say it, but then you can read some stuff in the "Things to Know" board. After you do that, go to the sign-up board. Create a thread titled with the name of the cat you are making, and then their Clan. So, for example, "Maplestar of SkyClan". Of course, you could also add in their position like "Maplestar; Leader of SkyClan". If they are a loner or something, use this: "Kitty the Kittypet". (Obviously the later was just an example. Nobody would really call their cat Kitty, would you?) (Secret Image: :-[ )

Can I have more than one cat? Could I have cats in more than one Clan?
Yes, you can have more than one cat. You can read how many in the rules. If your cat dies, they will join StarClan. You can roleplay them in the Great Beyond or The Dark Forest, depending on where they go. >=3 Dead cats don't count in your character count. Kits also do not count, (read about kits later).
Yes, you can have cats in more than one Clan.
You can buy more character slots in the Warrior Points Shop.
Staff can only have a free character slots with permission from Bunny to adopt a cat that has been gathering dust in the Adoption Center. Otherwise they have to buy a new spot. They STILL MUST PAY the fee.

How do I make a high-position cat?
To make a leader, deputy, medicine cat, or medicine cat apprentice, you must apply. How do you apply, you ask? Send a PM to me, Bunny, at 'admin'. Say why you want to have that position, how you qualify, etc. I'll only give my okay if you are going to be active and had a good application. Good luck!

Would you tell me about kits already??
When you post your character's bio in the "Looking for..." board, other members can come along and post their bio in your thread. When you make your thread, you have to put it in the board corresponding to what your cat wants, may it be a friend, enemy, or mate. If you look for a mate and find someone, and both agree that they should mate, they can have kits.
Kits can only be born after the two members post at least three threads with the characters in love. After this goal is met, both members PM Bunny at admin. The female will then become a Queen and will not have warrior duties until her kits are apprentices. After two weeks, the kits will be born. They will have traits of both parents, or maybe look nothing like either of them (they can look like other kin like grandparents, great grandparents, etc.)! Each litter can have up to 4 kits. The members who control the parents decide who has which kit. The ratio for kit genders is that for every two males, there is one female. If there is only one kit, the member with the female character automatically controls it if she has an open character slot. After another week, the kits can become apprentices. If someone who controls a kit has five cats already, they must wait until one of their cats becomes an outcast, dies, or is captured before the kit can have their apprentice ceremony. You can only control two kits at a time. Kits MAY BE PUT UP FOR ADOPTION.
Although it is against the Warrior Code, cats from different Clans can have kits together. You have to RP at secret border meetings to do this, or at a Gathering; discretely of course. When the kits are born, the parents have to decide who gets which one(s). There is a catch, however. The cross-Clan kits won't be as accepted as the Clan bred kits would be, they might be made fun of or treated differently for being Half-Clans. That is, if people know they are Half-Clans.
For example, let's say a female from ShadowClan and a male from WindClan have kits. The kits would be born in ShadowClan, but some could still go to WindClan. (Unless the kits are born on the border. Hopefully a Medicine Cat is nearby!) The members who control the cats who had Cross-Clan kits would have to decide who gets which kit. Cats can be anything but kits or apprentices to have kits. Female leaders and deputies can have kits only if nobody knows she is the mother. You can also do this with Medicine Cats.

So.. rogues?
Rogues are cats who are kicked out of a Clan. If one of your cats gets kicked out for plotting against the leader, not following orders or the Warrior Code (must be something REALLY bad against the Code to get kicked out), etc., the leader can banish them. You can only have 1 rogue at a time. Rogues roleplay at the territories or borders. They can also have land if you buy it for WP. They can plot together to attack a Clan. When rogues die, they go to roam in the Dark Forest.

What 'bout loners?
Loners are cats who wander the forest, and on this site, can have their own little territory that they must protect like a Clan's camp. Clan cats don't like that loners take their prey, but even if a loner doesn't have territory, they'd still take prey, so what's the point of fighting? (Changed the secret to ::) )

Wait... can loners have kits?
Good question. Actually, on this site they can! You can only make one loner, although it is possible to have more! You can have your main loner and one descendant of this loner. They can have kits by getting a mate in the "Looking For..." board like everyone else. Their mate could be another Loner, a rogue, even a Clan cat! Just like normal kits between Clan cats, the same rules apply. If you have more than two kits, each parent can still only take one. The extras can either die as kits or be taken to the Clans. You can also put them up for adoption.

How do cats die?
Cats can die in battle, from sickness, or from old age. Leaders have nine lives, so they must die nine times before they are truly dead. Cats grow a moon depending on what happens to them.
If one player's cat wants to kill someone else's, they must ask the player who owns the cat they want to kill. If the player says it's okay, you MUST contact Bunny at 'admin' and tell her. If you want one of your cats to kill another of your own, tell Bunny so it's not counted against you.
If someones sees a cat murder another, the murderer could become a rogue, if the cat who sees it spills. They lose twenty Warrior Points, which is really not a lot. The one kicked out, that is.

I'm new to Role Playing...
Role Playing is like making a story with other people. You type like you are writing a story, with quotation marks, correct spelling and grammar, ect. HOWEVER, if you are RPing in a battle or a little skirmish, you can only dodge two times before getting hit. You also can NOT play as other people's cat, that's powerplaying and is punishable by Rule. (Image es >:( )

What threads do you suggest reading?
I suggest definately reading the Rules, this Guide of course, the threads in "Things to Know", and the mentoring guide. I really think you should at least SKIM through everything. xD

Wait... earlier you said something about growing moons by different accomplishments?
Of course! You see, after a while you can make a cat older. However, there are also aging rates. Your cat may grow older when accomplishing a specific task. Those are in the post below this one.

Aging Rates:

Born: Your kitten is 0 moons

Apprenticed: Your cat is 6 moons

Become Warrior or Medicine Cat: Your cat is 10 moons, + the amount of moons they have grown from battle or going to their first gathering

Win a battle: Grow 1 moon

Go to first gathering: Grow 1 moon

Recieve an Apprentice: Grow 1 moon

Your apprentice becomes Warrior (or Medicine Cat): Grow 1 moon

(Medicine Cats) Heal major injury/cats after battle: Grow 1 moon

Get mate: Grow 1 moon

Have kits: Grow 1 moon (No matter how many kits you have)

Your Kits become Apprentices: Grow 1 moon (No matter how many kits have become apprentices)

Your Kits become Warriors: Grow 1 moon (No matter how many kits have become apprentices)

Become Deputy: Grow 2 moons

Become Leader: Grow 2 moons

Become Elder: Grow 2 moons

Your cat, once becoming warrior and up, can age without meeting these specifications. If you think they have been a number of moons for too long (about a month), then give them a moon. Every two weeks, elders grow a moon.
(The REAL image is ;D . Let's see who gets it right on their first time!)

Leader Lives:

Become Leader, accepted by StarClan: 8 more lives, making 9.

Your Clan loses battle: Minus 1 life

A leader can retire, but only if they only have one life left.
